Congratulations to the SFEA 2004 Boys for winning the spring 2018 NPL 2 title this past weekend. The boys ended the season with two matches to play on the final weekend, needing good results, and they did not disappoint. On Saturday, at Paul Goode Field, the team won 4-2 versus Star Academy in an exciting match that saw SFEA jump ahead 2-0 only to find themselves 2-2 with just 15 minutes to play. SFEA responded well by returning to its aggressive attacking play and put the match away with two goals to secure the win. On Sunday, SFEA played a great match, defeating third place Sunnyvale 4-0 at Skyline College and sealing their division championship. Congratulations to the entire team and head coach Nick Lusson on a fantastic season!
Three San Francisco Elite Academy have earned advanced licenses so far this year, a fourth coach is close to completing his work, and a fifth coach was just accepted to a highly selective course for this fall.
This past week, SFEA head coach Bobby Quinlan (2002 Boys and 2007 Boys DA) earned the prestigious National "A" Youth License and Barry McCabe (Lead Coach for Athletic Development & Injury Prevention) earned his National "B" License. Both coaches competed months of work with repeated classroom and field visits, as well as a long mentorship with a US Soccer coaching educator.
Earlier this year, Chris Flanagan (2003 Boys and 2009 Boys) completed his National "B" License as well, meaning SFEA now has six USSF A licensed coaches and 5 USSF B licensed coaches on staff. Head coach Mauricio Diaz DeLeon (2001 Boys and 2008 Boys) is nearing completion of his National "B" License and Abigail Kalschuer (2007 Girls) just learned she has been selected to a National B Course for the fall of 2018.
At the San Francisco Elite Academy we are proud of our staff and the professionalism for which they approach their roles as coaches. Congratulations to these coaches on this significant achievement.
JANUARY 2019 UPDATE:
The San Francisco Elite Academy is please to announce that Abigail Kalscheur has now earned her USSF National B license from the United States Soccer Federation as well.

SFEA 2004 USSDA Boys vs. Star Academy
1st Team Game - 2-1 Win
In the first 5 minutes of the game, SF Elite came out with very high intensity and wanted the win. On a free kick, Jake Moreno crossed a ball into the box, Dash Dallaire passed it to Yanis Zaim and he scored. Later in the half, the Star Academy forward won the ball off a back pass and scored their goal. Then Sf Elite had lots off chances but couldn't finish them. Early in the second half, SF Elite got their second goal. The Star Academy goalie passed the ball right to Yanis Zaim who was standing right in front of the goal and he finished it. After that the game remained scoreless and SF Elite won 2-1.

SFEA 2004 USSDA Boys vs. Star Academy
2nd Team Game - 1-1 Tie
On Saturday the 13th of May, SF Elite played against Star Academy. In game two, both teams were evenly matched. The score remained 0-0 throughout the first half, but in the second half Star Academy managed to get the ball in the back of the net. Minutes later SF Elite was awarded a free kick, and Russell Tan stepped up to take the shot. The ball was shot with power, deflected off of one of the players in the wall, and went into the goal. The score was tied at 1-1 and although there were some other close calls, the game ended that way.
