The San Francisco Elite Academy is proud to announce that the 99/00 Boys NPL, 01 Boys NPL, 02 Boys NPL, and the 01 Girls NPL, 02 Girls NPL, 03 Girls NPL, and 04 Girls NPL all have been selected to attend one of the nation's most coveted soccer showcases--the 2017 Surf College Cup Showcase. This marks the second year running that SFEA has sent multiple teams to compete against some of the best players in the nation. Held over Thanksgiving weekend at two premier field facilities in San Diego, the Surf College Showcase is considered one of the two premier national showcases for youth soccer players and only accepts approximately 1 in 3 teams that apply. Typically, over 500 college coaches attend the event to scout youth soccer talent who play three games over a three-day period against some of the top soccer clubs in the country (see the graphic below). Congratulations to these seven teams and we hope they both enjoy and take advantage of this unique opportunity to compete against the "Best of the Best," which is a cornerstone of what makes the San Francisco Elite Academy unique in San Francisco.
At the Academy, we're always working to help our players pursue their playing potential. This weekend we have multiple teams at the Fall NPL Showcase, where they're playing in front of over 125 college coaches. Next week, five teams are off to the prestigious Surf Cup College Showcase in San Diego, perhaps the most prestigious tournament in the nation. And on Saturday, at USF, we held a college recruiting workshop (led by four-year USF standout Mauricio Diaz De Leon) for two of our teams. It was an evening with tons of info, Q&A, pizza, as well as a multi-screen, FIFA video game tournament!! #United + Strength
The Academy is both thrilled and honored to be sending five of its teams—the 1998 Boys, 2000 Boys, 2001 Boys, 2002 Boys and 2001 Girls—to one of the premier soccer showcases in the United States, the 2016 Surf College Cup Showcase!
The Surf College Cup will be played November 25-27th in San Diego, California. It ranks among the top tournaments nationally, and offers a unique opportunity for elite teams around the country to compete and for players to be seen by college and professional scouts. This year’s tournament excepts to feature 220 teams for a field of over 600 applicants. There will be teams from 16 states and 6 countries, as well as over 150 college coaches and scouts on hand to identify soccer talent
The Academy views the acceptance of so many of our teams as part of our commitment to provide San Francisco’s top players an elite player path that had been previously impossible without leaving for programs outside the city.
Congratulations and good luck to our Academy players and teams in San Diego.
