SAQ+ stands for Strength, Agility, and Quickness PLUS Injury Prevention. The program is led by the SFEA lead coach for Athletic Development and Injury Prevention, Barry McCabe. Barry works with all SFEA teams, coaches, and players to help improve players’ overall fitness and soccer-specific athletic skills as well as lower their overall susceptibility to injury.
The SAQ+ program features a custom curriculum by age and gender, and the program is designed to hone soccer-specific, athletic skills like:
Our SAQ+ program insures that Barry works with each team and their coach several times per season to make sure specific exercises are incorporated into the team’s weekly routines.
In addition, all SFEA players complete an injury prevention questionnaire and are tested three times annually in order for the club to track overall player health and fitness as well as to measure SAQ+ impact and results. Coach McCabe will also work with the players in better understanding the nutritional requirements of their sport.
SAQ+ is yet another example of how the San Francisco Elite Academy is committed to working toward positive outcomes for top youth soccer players and developing overall health and fitness as we prepare them to take their game to the next level.
