The San Francisco Elite Soccer Club is accepting applications for Sr. Staff Coaches to join our elite player development staff. We are looking for growth-oriented coaches with a minimum of a USSF/UEFA B license, at least 5 years of experience coaching elite teams, a solid background in player development, and a strong desire to continue learning to help us grow and improve our club. This is a full-time, year-round with near-term opportunities for advancement into a program director position.
About SF Elite Academy
The SF Elite Academy was launched in 2014 to provide a competitive soccer platform for San Francisco Bay Area kids to thrive. SF Elite offers programs for kids 5 years of age to adult soccer. We are the Boys & Girls National Premier League (NPL) club of San Francisco. Our club has won a Regional Championship & have competed for National Championships. A total of 72 players have moved on to play collegiate soccer.
Position Overview
The Senior Staff Coach will coach 2-3 teams, have some club operation duties during the day and in the off-season. The ideal candidate will have experience coaching boys and girls U8-U19 at all ages; is able to work with and collaborate with the Director of Coaching and the Director of Player Development toward the achievement of organizational objectives and performance goals in the areas of player and coach development.

- Supports the development and implementation of the club’s Game Model (positional play, cognitive development, decision making), accompanying curriculum and training methodology, and coaching education to create an optimal player development environment for player, team, and club success.
- Assists in creating an environment where serious players will want to play to maximize their potential.
- Participate in scouting, recruitment, tryouts, and retention of players such that our academy and competitive teams are full.
- Possesses leadership skills, time management, and decision-making skills.
- Assists with in-house coaching education and mentoring of club coaches as needed; attend all in-house coaching education meetings and clinics.
- Excellent people skills, relationship-centered, able to maintain positive collaborative relationships with all parents, staff, and surrounding community; provide weekly electronic communication with teams.
- Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills; able to resolve conflict in a professional manner.
- Have a growth mindset, able to work as part of a team and on their own initiative; strong teaching, and motivational skills, and dedicated to continuously improving themselves.
- Communicate with teams to assist in club wide functions, programs, and fundraising events, etc.
- Ability, and comfortable with, working with multiple supervisory and/or collaborative bodies including the Staff Leadership, Board of Directors, US Youth, US Club Soccer, and local league management personnel.
Requirements & Qualifications
- USSF “B” license or above (UEFA or NSCAA Advanced National Diploma or equivalent) is preferred or on track to acquire them in the near term.
- Candidates must have the desire to continue their coaching education in both formal and supplemental forms and the humility to receive mentoring and feedback from the staff leadership.
- Professional or collegiate (4-year) playing experience is preferred or extensive coaching experience and a desire to achieve a UEFA or USSF “A” license in the next 1-3 years may also be considered
- 5-10-years of coaching experience; willingness to continue coaching education through both federations licensing such as US Soccer, UEFA, USC, and/or supplemental methodology courses such as TOVO Academy, MBP, La Liga, or similar.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Ability to speak to players, parents, to help promote the club’s vision and goals
- An ability to set goals and attain them in the time set forth by yourself and the club
- Expected to complete 15-20 office hours per week in season and 30-40 hours in winter and summer off-seasons (full-time option only).
- Must be willing to interact with parents, board members, and the community about the club, our player development philosophy, methodology, and how they will benefit.
- Proficient with the use of email, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Google Suite, etc.
- Marketing, graphic design, webmaster, or social media a plus
- English speaking, Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
