On Monday, the Academy hosted a group of interested parents in McLaren Hall at USF for a presentation and discussion of our US Soccer Development Academy program. Led by Academy Director, Nick Lusson, parents heard about US Soccer's flasghip youth development program, why the SF Elite Academy was selected to run the program in our market, and how it works to help develop top youth soccer players. Also in attendance was Boys Director of Coaching and USF Men's Soccer Coach, Eddie Soto, as well as Academy President, Joe Dugan. "We wanted to just share information with interested familes tonight," said Dugan. "Youth soccer has so many leagues, tournaments, and clubs that it can feel confusing and new programs can sometime feel like more of the same. The US Soccer Development Academy is different, however. It's a structured program, one carefully administered by US Soccer, with high standards related to coaching, curricullum, player health and welfare, as well as training environment. It's simple a whole other level of soccer play that previiously was not avail;able in San Francisco." The US Soccer Development Academy's philosophy is based on increased training, less total games, and more meaningful games using international rules of competition. It focuses on positively impacting everyday club environments to assist in maximizing youth player development across the country. Increasingly, the players on display with US National teams, MLS team, and top college programs have come from US Soccer Development Academies.
