Picture
Tomorrow, Thursday February 7th, NorCal will be conducting the playoff draw for the finals of the 2018-2019 State Cup for U14-U19 Boys and Girls. The San Francisco Elite Academy has all of its 10 age-group teams (across genders) still in the competition, and eight of those teams (U19B, U17B, U16B, U19G, U17G, U16G, U15G, and U14G) will be playing in the final 32, the State Division, the highest division of State Cup play. Our U15B and U14B teams are in the Premier division or second group of 32 teams.

Congratulations to all of our teams on pushing into the elite bracket and good luck in the matches ahead!

The draw can be followed live on NorCal's Youtube page. And you cam read more about the draw on the NorCal website.

Three SFEA Teams Claim NorCal Champions League Spots

1/11/2019

Congratulations to the SFEA 2002 Boys, as well as the 2003 and 2005 Girls' teams, for claiming NorCal Champions League spots for the spring of 2019. Champions League divisions represent the highest level of play in northern California outside U.S. Soccer Development Academy play. All three teams had remarkable fall seasons that ended with them being in the critical top spots of their NPL 1 divisions.

For the 2002 Boys, NPL Champions League was our team goal for the fall," said Bobby Quinlan, head coach of the SFEA 2002 boys. As a group we created a set of values and expectations and it included Champions League play as a critical goal. I'm very proud of the team for working to be better each day, and now we look forward to competing for Champions League and State Cup titles this spring."

For the 2003 Girls it will be a second Champions League qualification in a row. Nonetheless, head coach Jeff Wilson knows that his 2003 girls cherish the high level competition. "The 2003 girls love competing against the very best players and clubs throughout Northern California. Like their accomplishments on the field, these girls are also successfully excelling in the classrooms of some of the most prestigious high schools in the bay area.  They've learned to balance daily schedules filled with college preparatory courses as well as competition against the most accomplished soccer players around. It all adds up to these 2003 girls being prepared for many great things ahead."

Currently, the 2002 Boys and 2003 teams are on a winter break while most of their players participate in high school play. The 2005 girls, who have also qualified for Champions League, are continuing to train together as a group over the winter.  "The 2005 Girls have really benefited with our club philosophy of mixing some training and play opportunties across age groups," said Tom Atencio, head coach of the 2005 Girls. "They go against the 2004 Girls quite often and that highly competitive environment carries them into games and in turn the Champions League for spring as well as our great results at 2018 Surf College Cup. In fact, across the 2004 and 2005 teams we have 8 players on the state PDP team, which is comparable to the very best ECNL teams in northern California. It's a credit to the girls themselves as well as the carefully considered training environment we've established to help them be the top players they want to become."

Good luck to all three teams this spring as they compete in the very highest divisions of Norcal play available.

SFEA Girls Have Stellar High School Seasons

3/7/2018

The San Francisco Elite Academy congratulates all of our high school players on their respective seasons. Today, we'd like to offer a special shout of praise to the many girls in our program who have taken their soccer skills to their various schools and enjoyed a great winter playing with their classmates. And we'd also like to share that two schools, Sacred Heart Cathedral (SHC) and Lowell High School, both schools are still playing—in the CIF Northern California Regional Girls Championship—feature 19 girls who pay club soccer with the San Francisco Elite Academy.

Sacred Heart Cathedral won the CCS Div 2 championship with a 2-0 win over Terra Nova last Saturday, earning themselves the #2 seed in the Division III NorCal Regional Championships. In Round 1, SHC beat Campolindo 3-2 with Senior, Paivi Miller putting in yet another mercurial performance in midfield (1 goal, 1asst), and Freshman standout Maggie Altman continuing her great run of form up front (1 goal). On Thursday, March 8, #2 SHC will face #6 Cardinal Newman, 6:30pm at Kezar Stadium.

SFEA Players at SHC include Catriona Black, Paivi Miller, Miriam Streicker-Hirt, Allison Phillips, Alyssa Forsman, Sophie Rodil, Gabby Rodil, Simone Barragan-Shaw, and Maggie Altman.

Lowell started the season with two wins in five games, before going on 14 game winning streak en route to their 21st consecutive league title, earning themselves the #4 seed in the Division IV NorCal Regional Championships. In Round 1, Lowell were able to grind out a 1-0 against #5 Oakland Tech. Lowell’s young team will face their toughest test yet on Thursday, March 8 at 4:00pm, when the face #1 University Prep in Redding, where they are 10-1 this season.

SFEA Players at Lowell include Ellie James, Camilla Bodden, Lea Thauvin, Mariko Hokamura, Hannah McCord, Kalea Pappendrew, Shannon Li, Sarah Ginsburg, Natalia Potente and Siena Stueland.

Good luck to all these girls and their school teams as they chase their respective regional titles.

SFEA Teams Make a Splash at 2017 Surf College Cup

11/28/2017

The San Francisco Elite Academy sent 7 teams to this year's premier national showcase, the Surf College Cup Showcase, and several made a statement about the quality of their team, players and coaches with terrific performances.

Leading the way was the 2001 Boys, which recently qualified for the spring NPL Champions League. The 2001 Boys won two matches and tied one at Surf, meaning they finished first in their group of six teams. During the showcase, seven different players claimed goals and the 2001 boys scored 9 goals over their three matches. Also, doing well in San Diego were the 99/00 Boys and 2002 Girls. Both teams finished third in their groups. The 99/00 boys went 1-1-1 to finish third among six teams, and the 2002 Girls went 2-1 to finish third among eight teams.

Best of all, each of SFEA's seven participating teams (99/00, 01, and 02 Boys, and 01, 02, 03, 04 Girls) got to play in a pristine playing setting that included over 500 participating college coaches. College coaches were regular fixtures along the sidelines of SFEA games and were introduced to SFEA players with team rosters with player information. Congratulations to all our SFEA teams for what was yet another good year at Surf College Cup.
